This document describes the official rules (“Official Rules”) of the Lee County Center for the Arts (hereafter called “LCCA”) logo contest.
Definitions “Entry” means a logo designed and submitted by the Entrant for this Contest. “Entrant” means the individual that offers the Entry under the terms of this Contest. “Entry Form” means the form submitted with the entry, containing basic contact information and submission rules. “Release Form” means a document that releases any and all rights of an entrant’s work to LCCA. This form must be signed prior to prize award to be eligible to win or receive a prize. Eligibility 1. The Contest is open to any individual who resides in Lee County. 2. There is no age restriction; however, Entrants under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign both the Entry and Release forms. 3. Entrants may submit up to 3 Entries, or variations of an Entry. No more than 3 Entries are acceptable. Entries are accepted in the order received and any entries past three will be discarded. 4. LCCA Board members and their immediate family are not eligible to enter the Contest. How to Enter 1. Entries must be submitted by email to info@lccatx.org or by mail to LCCA, PO Box 1285, Giddings, TX 78942. You may also drop your entry off at the Lee County Center for the Arts (formerly Blast from the Past) on Friday, April 5, 2024, between the hours of 1:00pm and 3:00pm. 2. All entries must be received by 5:00pm on April 5, 2024, Central Standard Time. 3. Entries must be submitted as a scalable vector graphic in EPS format, and also as a JPG. If entry is submitted by mail or in person, the entry must be saved on a thumb drive with no password. CD’s or other media is not acceptable. 4. The entry must be accompanied by the Entry Form, containing the name, age, postal address, phone number, email address, and age of the Entrant. Entry forms are available on Facebook or at www.LCCATX.org. 5. Entries must conform to the Submission Guidelines. Entries which fail to do so will be rejected and discarded without notice. 6. LCCA will attempt to acknowledge all entries within one day of receipt; however, we cannot be responsible for entries or responses lost in email or in USPS. Entrants are encouraged to contact LCCA if acknowledgement is not received within 24 hours. 7. There is no fee to enter the Contest. Submission Guidelines The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for LCCA. The logo will be used for promotional and official forms, online and in print. Flexibility is a key requirement, including the need to resize easily and to look good in black and white as well as color. The final version of the logo will need to be suitable for high quality printing, while also looking good at relatively small sizes (e.g., embroidered on clothing). Entrants should take care to ensure that their Entries are not in any way similar to existing logos or other copyrighted images. There are no specific design elements the logo must include; however, LCCA will need to be able to add the organization name with the logo for some uses. “LCCA” or “Lee County Center for the Arts” is not part of the design. Therefore, Entrants may want to consider how LCCA might incorporate its name with the Entry, and the aesthetics once this text is added. The logo must not contain any text. Logo must also not contain the artist’s name or symbol. Prizes Subject to the legal requirements outlined above, the winning design will be announced on the LCCA website and Facebook page, and with an email to the winner. The winning Entrant will receive a $200 Amazon gift card and a $100 gift certificate from The Bullpen Sports Bar and Grill. The winning Entrant is responsible for any tax. Judging and Selection of Winner 1. Entries will be printed and numbered with a number to correspond with the name of the Entrant. Only Board Vice President Haril Walpole (contest “Coordinator”) will have access to this list until after the selection is made. Judging will be blind and judges will not know who submitted the entry. The Coordinator is not eligible to vote. 2. Eligible entries will be reviewed by the LCCA Board, who will make the final selection. Their decision will be final. No further correspondence shall be entered into. 3. LCCA reserves the right not to select a winner if, in its sole discretion, no suitable entries are received. 4. LCCA reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant or Entry at its sole discretion. No correspondence shall be entered into. 5. Accepting the prize constitutes permission for LCCA and its Board to make public and otherwise use winner’s name. Further personal data may be requested but is not required. Intellectual Property 1. All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-existing design. 2. All Entries will become the sole property of LCCA. LCCA shall have unlimited rights to use and display the submitted work in any manner it deems appropriate. 3. Participants agree that by accepting the award for this contest, and by signing the Release Form (required), they are assigning any and all title, rights, and interest in the submitted work to LCCA. Representations and Warranties By participating in the Contest, the Entrant warrants and represents in connection with the Entry submitted as part of the Entrant’s participation in the Contest: (a) the Entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of (and free of any adverse claim by any person, firm, or corporation) all intellectual property rights in and to the Entry; (b) the Entry is original and the use of the Entry as described in these Official Rules will not infringe the proprietary rights, including without limitation the intellectual property rights, of any third party; (c) the use of the Entry, as described in these Official Rules, will be in compliance with any third-party licenses pertaining to the Entry; (d) the Entry is not obscene or libelous, and does not violate any rights of any third party, including but not limited to rights of privacy or publicity; (e) the Entry does not contain any virus, spyware, malware, trap door, worm, or any other device, mechanism or code that is injurious or damaging to software or hardware used in conjunction with the Entry; (f) the Entry and its use as described in these Official Rules will not violate any federal, provincial, state or local laws or ordinances; (g) no employer or educational or other establishment has any rights in the Entry; (h) the Entry is consistent with these Official Rules; (i) the Entrant has the right to grant the title to LCCA as required in the Official Rules; and (j) the Entrant is responsible for any taxes and fees.
